Sharing the Original – The History, The Present, Your Future
3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Lisa Michaels and Jamie Asbury
The SoCal Stip: a long-standing and frustrating practice in Southern California that just doesn’t seem to go away, despite our best efforts to stop it.  Attorneys love to recite it; yet, as guardians of the record, deposition reporters are well aware of the dangers that this agreement may pose to the integrity of the transcript.  Ever want to educate an attorney about the perils of the stipulation but just don’t know what to say?  In this interactive seminar with firm owner and CalDRA Past President Lisa Michaels and CalDRA Board member Jamie Asbury, participants will brainstorm ideas on how to educate our clients on alternatives they have to stipulating that just might have them finally closing by the Code.  Plus, hear from CalDRA’s recently formed task force, the Stip Stoppers, about the steps they are taking to help eradicate this practice once and for all.

CalDRA's Famous Cocktail Party • 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Come fly with us!  By now, you all know that CalDRA throws the best reporter shindig in town, and this year is no exception.  Put on your best digs and toast with your colleagues while listening to the smooth standards of Frank Sinatra and the rest of the Rat Pack.  Cocktails, appetizers, and gorgeous Palm Springs promise to make it a night to remember.  And, if that wasn’t enough, rumor has it that Ol’ Blue Eyes is alive and kicking – and just might be stopping into the party for a special guest appearance.  You won’t want to miss this!
